Today we left Wellington and headed to Napier for a two night stay at a farmhouse located on the Mission Estate Winery.
We didn’t make too many stops along the way, but we did pass through the Rumariku crossing and we stopped in a town called Greytown for lunch.

In the early afternoon we arrived at the farmhouse we were staying at, set within the grounds of the Mission Estate Vineyard.

It was a beautiful house right beside the vines, with a large green space where the girls could play frisbee, an outdoor eating area, and even a hot tub.

Despite being so close to the vineyard, it felt wonderfully private.

While Susie and I prepared dinner – a pre-cooked lasagna with garlic bread and salad – Michael took the girls for a walk up Sugar Loaf Hill, which is just behind the estate.

They were rewarded with some great views from the top. On the way down they passed some fields that had alpacas in them too.

Dinner was delicious, and we stayed up until midnight, enjoying a lovely sunset that turned into a sky full of stars, along with some fireworks.
