RTW Trip Day #27: Arriving at the Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa

We had always planned for today to be a lazy day at the resort, as the weather was forecast to rain and we figured it was a good day to catch up with some homeschooling.

However as we got such little sleep the night before after the flight cancellation, we ended up spending most of the morning in bed, and the girls in particular were pretty messed up for the whole day.

Arriving at the Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa

The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa was just as beautiful as we expected. Unfortunately, we missed our first night due to the flight cancellation, but the hotel upgraded our room for the remaining four nights, which was a nice touch. We even got a little welcome gift in the room.

Before settling down for a nap and some much-needed rest, we first went for the buffet breakfast, and it was incredible!

They had fresh fruit, yogurt, pancakes, a noodle soup station, an omelet station, curry, sushi, fruit smoothies... the list goes on. It's $25 CAD each for me and Susie, but the kids are free, so I think it's pretty good value.

Once we’d rested, and the rain has stopped, we checked out the pool and beach. It’s going to be hard to resist grabbing a few drinks from the pool bar, even though the prices are quite high. We played around with the go pro under water which was fun.

We went for a pre dinner drink in the Breeze Restaurant in the hotel, as both Susie and I have a free drink each night with our Gold status at the hotel (thank you, AMEX)!

We ended up staying there and eating there too since the girls weren’t feeling up to going anywhere, and we ordered the chicken satay skewers and a chicken tikka pizza - both were really good.

There was some live music, which we listened to for a while, but when we got back to our room, we could still hear it from the balcony.
