We don't have too much to report today. We caught our flight to Vietnam around lunchtime, but arrived late in the afternoon in Vietnam, so we didn’t really have any time to explore aside from going out for dinner.
The taxi to our hotel was almost an hour, and the driving is completely crazy! The rules of the road seem to be “just drive, they will avoid me”, but the way that the bikes weave in and out between the cars, I can’t believe there aren’t accidents all over the place.
Sheraton Hanoi West

When we arrived at the Sheraton Hanoi West, we found out that we’d been given a slight room upgrade, which was a nice surprise. The room had two twin beds and a sofa bed for us to share. It was comfortable, and there were even some chocolates waiting for us (which Jess wasted no time eating), plus a random bee stuffy that Evelyn immediately claimed.

Hot Pot for Dinner

For dinner we found a local hot pot restaurant quite close to our hotel. We’ve never had hot pot before so it was fun to try cooking our own meat (beef and pork) in the hot broth on the table. Evelyn liked the pork and Jess liked the beef, but I think they liked the process of cooking the food more than eating it to be honest.

After dinner, we had a quick dip in the pool before bed but it was pretty cold so we didn’t stay in long, it's definitely not as inviting as the pool we just left in Hong Kong! We got an early night ready for a big day exploring Hanoi tomorrow.
