The Wellington Cable Car
The sun was out this morning and the wind had eased, so we took advantage and hopped on the Wellington Cable Car up to the lookout above the city. As you’d expect, the views were fantastic.

The Botanical Gardens

At the top, we spent some time walking around the botanical gardens, which is one of the best free things to do in Wellington.

There’s a fun kids’ play area, some lovely wild walking trails, and a rose garden right next to a great café (the apple pie was amazing).

We had a quick look around the Cable Car Museum before heading back to Michael’s house to relax in the garden, play frisbee, and enjoy some much-needed downtime.

That feeling of being at home is probably what we’ve missed the most, so it was a perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon.

The Bells Track

After dinner, we walked up Bells Track to the ridge and followed it along to the Tarikaka Summit Lookout as the sun went down.

From the top, we could see right across the bay and even spot the Marlborough Sounds, where we had been just a few days earlier.

It was a lovely walk and really reminded me of England, but the weather was warmer and with ocean views!
